The following are biographies of our leadership, investment management, financial planning and portfolio management support services team members. LEADERSHIP
Mich Landry CMA, CFP
President
IAIC President Mich Landry has more than 20 years of accounting, financial planning and leadership experience and has been with our firm from the very beginning. After completing a Business of Administration degree in Accounting from Lakehead University in 1989, Mich worked as an accountant with a national firm. He joined IAIC member firm Ward & Uptigrove Chartered Accountants in 1993, excelling as a senior staff accountant, before moving to the financial planning division, UMA Financial.
Working with the partners of Ward & Uptigrove, Mich developed a strategic plan to position UMA Financial as a leading regional financial and wealth management firm. In 1999, the company expanded by creating a financial
service platform for Independent Chartered Accounting firms. This was the beginning of IAIC.
Mich has been an integral leader of IAIC since its inception and as the president, guides the organization’s management team.
Joel Baker CIM, MBA
Chief Investment Officer
Joel has been a pioneering member of the IAIC team since 2000. After earning a BBA from Brock University in 1994 and an MBA from the University of Windsor in 1995, Joel began his career as a staff accountant with IAIC member accounting firm Ward and Uptigrove. Joel specialized in the preparation of financial statements and corporate returns for investment companies.
In his more than 10 years working at IAIC, Joel has been an instrumental contributor to establishing, monitoring and adjusting IAIC’s overall investment strategy. The IAIC is a perfect complement to Joel's accounting background, education and personal interest in finance. As IAIC’s CIO, Joel leads the organization in following a value-based investment approach for all clients .
Ian Moorhouse CIM, FCSI
Compliance Manager Ian has worked in the financial services industry for more than 20 years and has held numerous leadership positions. A graduate of Laurentian University in 1987 with a BA in Economics, Ian joined an international investment firm in 1990 where he served in both their securities operations and credit & compliance divisions. For the next two decades, Ian worked with various firms in roles that included Financial Planner, Training Coordinator and Senior Regional Manager. Prior to joining IAIC in 2011, Ian served as the President and Chief Compliance Officer of IAFG.
As an IAIC Compliance Manager, Ian works in areas of compliance to help ensure the organization adheres to the rules and standards of IAIC's regulating bodies.
Luke MacLennan CA
Vice President, Marketing and Finance
Luke graduated with an HBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario in 2004. Luke began his career articling with a national accounting firm, earning his CA designation in 2007. Luke then joined an entrepreneurial firm in the computer software industry, where he served in various roles until 2010, when he joined IAIC.
As the Vice President, Marketing and Finance, Luke oversees the organization's marketing initiatives and financial reporting.
Steve Doty CA
Vice President, Business Development & Operations.
Steve has almost 30 years of accounting firm and financial services experience. Prior to joining IAIC in 2011, Steve was Chief Financial Officer of CMA Holdings Inc., the parent company of MD Management Limited and other organizations within the Canadian Medical Association group, providing financial and other services to Canadian physicians. Before his 16 years with the CMA, Steve was a tax specialist with Price Waterhouse. Steve holds a BComm (Honours) from the University of Ottawa and is a Chartered Accountant.
As the Vice President, Business Development and Operations Steve is leading IAIC’s growth initiative to add new CA firm members to the IAIC group and as well as the enhancement of IAIC's internal operations.
INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT
Robert Uptigrove CA, CIM
Portfolio Manager
Bob’s extensive experience in both disciplined investing and corporate valuations is what IAIC’s foundation is built upon. Bob earned his CA designation in 1966 while working with a national accounting firm. In 1973, Bob joined Jack Ward to form the firm of Ward and Uptigrove Chartered Accountants in Listowel, Ontario. For the next 27 years, Bob served various owner-managed businesses providing advice on tax, valuations, and general business issues, all while spearheading Ward and Uptigrove to become one of Ontario’s largest independent accounting firms.
After valuing companies for 30 years, Bob retired from his client responsibilities in 2000 and earned his CIM designation to become the first Portfolio Manager of IAIC.
Steve Cornell CFA, ASA
Portfolio Manager
Steve has led an esteemed career as an actuary, financial analyst and portfolio manager for more than 25 years. After graduating from the University of Western Ontario in 1985 with a BSc in Statistics and Actuarial Science, Steve began an extensive actuarial career working for leading Canadian life insurance and finance companies. Steve performed a variety of pricing, valuation and investment functions and in 1995, obtained an Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation. In 2006, Steve obtained his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. Steve holds memberships in the CFA Institute, the Toronto Society of Financial Analysts, the Society of Actuaries and the Canadian Institute of Actuaries.
Steve joined IAIC in 2003, recognizing that his expertise in pensions, wealth management valuation and personal investment philosophy, was a perfect fit with IAIC's value-based approach and customized portfolio management.
Michael Williams CFA, MBA, MTax, P.Eng
Portfolio Manager
Mike Williams is an experienced and highly knowledgeable Portfolio Manager who plays an instrumental role in ensuring clients have diversified, value-based and disciplined portfolios. Mike graduated with an Engineering degree from the University of Waterloo in 1987. Later in his career, Mike graduated with an MBA from Wilfred Laurier University, completed a post-graduate MBA from York University, and completed a Masters of Taxation at the University of Waterloo. Mike is the Executive Director and Chairman of the Kitchener-Waterloo Progressive Conservative Association, Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee of a publicly traded company, and holds memberships in the CFA Institute, the Toronto Society of Financial Analysts and the Professional Engineers of Ontario.
Mike joined IAIC in 2002 as he felt the firm was better positioned than others as it offered clients a truly integrated approach to wealth management.
Fabio Pucci CFA
Portfolio Manager
Fabio has more than 25 years of experience specializing in investment services. A graduate of the University of Waterloo with a degree in Economics, he began his career providing investment services at a major capital management company in 1984. As a private investor representative, Fabio developed a value focused approach and an interest in portfolio management. Fabio has attained both the Licensed International Financial Analyst (LIFA) and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder designations. Fabio is as a local committee member of the Toronto CFA Society.
Fabio joined IAIC in 2010, providing clients with value-based investing and customized portfolio management.

Gord Hardie CFP, CIM, FCSI
Vice President, Financial Planning
Gord began his career in wealth management in 1992 and has worked at various national financial services firms as both a Senior Financial Consultant and a Regional Manager. Throughout his career, Gord has attained several licences and accreditations from various governing financial service bodies. Gord joined IAIC in 2010 to lead the newly established financial planning division of the organization.
As the Vice President, Financial Planning, Gord is responsible for both managing the division, as well as providing comprehensive financial plans for our clients.
Steve Rapson CFP
Senior Financial Planner
Steve is an experienced and skilled financial planner with 20+ years of experience. A graduate of the University of Toronto in 1987, Steve launched his career in Wealth Management working at various banks and investment firms. In 1997, Steve joined a national financial services firm where he served as Senior Financial Consultant, providing investment and financial planning advice to high net worth clients. Steve joined IAIC in 2010 as the organization's first Senior Financial Planner.
As a Senior Financial Planner, Steve is responsible for providing comprehensive financial plans for our clients.
Brianne Weaver
Assistant Financial Planner
Brianne graduated from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Commerce in 2008. Brianne began her career working as a Customer Service Representative at an international agriculture services company before enrolling in the Professional Financial Services program at Fanshawe College, graduating in 2010. Brianne has attained several licenses and accreditations from various governing financial service bodies and has passed the examination that will designate her as a Certified Financial Planner once she has fulfilled the required two years work experience.
As an Assistant Financial Planner, Brianne supports IAIC's Senior Financial Planners and FSE Financial Planners.
INVESTMENT COUNSEL PORTFOLIO MANAGER SUPPORT SERVICES (ICPMSS)
Krishna Beharry
ICPMSS Manager
Krishna has worked in the investment representative field for more than 10 years. After graduating with a degree in Economics and Sociology from Dalhousie University in 1998, Krishna began his career as a Registered Investment Representative with a large brokerage company where he traded in both North American and international equities and options. Krishna was responsible for trade investigations, as well as authorizing sophisticated trading activities by junior Investment Representatives. While at that firm, he was also a pioneering member of its Financial Planning platform, where he managed a team of Registered Financial Planners based in Western Canada. Krishna joined IAIC in 2005.
As the ICPMSS Manager, Krishna manages and oversees the work performed by the IAIC staff responsible for supporting IAIC's Portfolio Managers.
Wendy Ross
ICPMSS Administrator
Wendy earned her Business Diploma from Lougheed College in Waterloo and worked in the retail banking industry for 17 years in roles that varied from Teller, to Loans Officer and Financial Advisor. Wendy joined IAIC in 2001.
As the ICPMSS Administrator, Wendy is responsible for ensuring that all specific investment management and proposal tasks are assigned to the appropriate staff and completed in a timely manner. Wendy is also responsible for calculating management fees.
Bryon Bates
Bryon has over 30 years experience working in both the accounting and wealth management divisions of various firms. Bryon graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a BA in Business and Economics in 1967 and proceeded to work for a national accounting firm. While working with a national Financial Services Company, he quickly identified that it is most advantageous for clients to include their accountant when considering wealth management, a key facet of the IAIC mission. Recognizing the alignment between his philosophy and IAIC’s, Bryon joined IAIC in 2001, bringing his wealth of knowledge and experience.
Bryon has also served on the board of several charitable and not-for-profit organizations, including Community Living and The United Way.
